Description The body naturally manufactures a small amount of glucosamine (pronounced glue-KOSE-a-mean) which is a farly simple molecule that contains sugar glucose. It is found in relatively high concentrations in the joints and connective tissues where the body uses it for cartilage repair and maintenance.


Uses Various forms are available, including glucosamine sulfate, and N-acetyl-glucosamine (NAG). Glucosamine sulfate is the preferred form for arthritis. Glucosamine is readly used by the body and 90% to 98% is absorbed through the intestine and appears to be very effective for this condition.

Possible Side Effects Glucosamine is a natural substance produced in the body and is virtually free of side effects. Gastrointestinal effects, such as heartburn or nausea, occur rarely.
